Freckle Invasion

Now if you don't mind my uni-brow. I have been overrun by freckles! What is the thing about freckles anyway? Some find them cute while others find them to be a menace. Before this summer I thought my freckles were pretty cute but that's because I didn't have a ton of blotchy ones.. Now, I find them to be invading my poor face. It's a gene I had gotten from mother dearest (my birth mother) She is always working outside and is covered forehead to toes in freckles due to the sun. Now I don't go out in the sun all that often but the freckles keep on comin' anyway. It's another reason why I love foundation so much, it makes my skin flawless and keeps the freckles in check.

Why must I be cursed with this trait? I have average dry skin which is already a pain in the butt and my pores are a tad bigger than normal making it easy for acne and blackheads to take over. I think the only freckles I really don't mind are the ones on my nose and maybe a few on my cheekbones.

My Lancome foundation covers a lot of them while letting a few show through which is how I like it! unfortunately I have to wait a couple days for my foundation to come in the mail. That's the one thing that sucks about ordering online, the wait time. the pro is that it's a tad cheaper and usually free shipping. I bought the new one on Overstock for $46 bucks and some change with free shipping when it was $47 plus $7 shipping on the official site. I can only imagine how much it would've been in-store.

But anyway, back to freckles. Do you like or despise yours? What is the good thing about having freckles? I guess that's the reason concealer and foundation were invented. Thank god for those two products.

Foundation Devastation

My all time favorite foundation is the Lancome Teint Idole Ultra 24 hour foundation in the shade 110 Iviore C. I found out the other day that it was damn near empty. I have had it for over 3 years because at first I used it very seldom and didn't use it regularly until the last few months. I was going to go to Macy's to buy more since that was where it was first purchased. I looked online and it was retailed at $54.00 without tax included. I have a limited amount to spend on my foundation as well as wanting to buy new nail polish later as well.

As you could guess I was devastated. I had that foundation for a long time and loved the color and that there were no touch-ups needed with it throughout the day. I was bummed but today I did another search. I looked on Overstock and found it for $46.49e. No tax and free shipping since the item was over $45.00. You can picture me doing my happy dance now. Sure I won't get it the same day but I saved some money and can deal. I suppose I can try to milk my current bottle until it's very last drop until I receive my new bottle in the mail.

What is your favorite foundation? This one is amazing. It doesn't have any harmful chemicals and was tested on sensitive skin, It was advised by Dermatologists and it was also not tested on animals which is always a good thing too so you know it's healthy for your skin. Another good thing is it's also a sunscreen at  SPF 15 which is decent if you're in the sun a good amount. It's Matte but doesn't leave a sticky or powdery finish.

I just have to say, this definitely beats Cover Girl's cream foundation that you get in the oval blue case at drugstores. I used to use that but then my skin got darker and I needed something else. It always looked kind of caked on when I wore it also. You can also try it before you buy it if you go to a Lancome retailer such as Macy's or Sephora. Thanks to the makeover at Macy's years ago, I got to discover what the perfect shade for my skin tone was. It's only a tiny bit darker than my skin but blends very well.

Two Day Makeup Frenzy

I have been applying makeup every day for the last week. I can't get over how beautiful I look with it on! It really seems to boost my self image and makes me feel amazing. I'm being told by friends that i'm getting better at makeup applications in beauty and makeup Facebook groups. I really love today's look. I did what apparently is called a "Hooded eye" look with my eye shadow. I have no idea what that means (go figure) but i'm going to assume it's when you apply eye shadow up to your eyebrow.

I was told once in a group not to do that unless it's with a very light natural color. I used a mix between a light cream and black to do mine which came out kind of gray. I applied a little brown to the eyelid but it isn't very noticeable. I (as usual) used my Rock Nudes palette for my eyes. I used my thick eyeliner which I discovered is named Master Kajal by Maybeline. I also used a brow pencil I had ordered from the Wish app a while back to make my eyebrows darker since I now have black hair, and it makes them look fuller as well. The product is Dream Goddess unfortunately the host brand name has worn off the stick so I can't divulge that information. I used Loreal's Color Riche He Thinks He's Matte-Cho lipstick which is a brownish color since my shirt choice today is black and tan. Of course I used my typical Lancome foundation to apply first.

This look came out really great I think!

This is yesterday's look which I applied while I was at work hence the security badge. I had used the Revlon palette of purples my former boss bought me a while back and kept it pretty simple with a nude lipstick and minimal eyeliner. It was a more subtle look for my usual tastes but I didn't feel like being too bold then like I was today. irregardless it came out well too. Sometimes you just need a change of scenery don't you think? Now only to see what tomorrow brings! I love to play with all my makeup.

Nail Polish Mayhem

Raise your hand if you like to get your nails done! I can't afford to get them done professionally so I do them myself. It's always nice to express your moods and play with your nail polish. I tend to do a ton of things with my nails between a basic polish, or doing a little experimenting with the colors I have.

In the first picture I was feeling a tiny flirty and a little girly so I used pink. What's funny is while I was painting them, Aerosmith's song "Pink" started playing and I couldn't help but laugh at the coincidence. The pink was done June 3rd, 2017. The next picture I was watching a Disney movie and felt like doing somewhat of a Disney theme on 09/03/17. Yes I know I fucked up pretty bad but like I always say, "i'm nowhere near a pro" so if you guessed Monsters Inc's Sulley, you'd be right! The third picture was what I did yesterday 9/4/17. I used a Wet N' Wild purple color along with a clear coat that had big sparkles mixed in.

I think it came out very well considering i'm not very good on the nail art spectrum. The last picture was from August 22nd. I always liked that dark aqua marine color and once used it with a dark purple for a Marde Gras type of theme. I really need to invest in more colors. I rarely have the money but one day i'm going to save up and have a spending spree at the local drug store for some fun new colors of nail polish and a ton of makeup as well.

How do you experiment with your nails? I bet it's not really that hard to be better than me. I'm pretty low on the scale honestly. I think my five year old son even has one up on me sad to say. Alas, it's still fun to play with nail polish as it is to play with other makeup as well. As I said, it's a very good way to express your fashion or you're mood. paint them once a week or every day, just have fun with it and go with the flow. the sky is the limit!

Goth Craze

I don't know why I can rock Gothic looks so well. Maybe it's my black hair or maybe my fair skin. Possibly a combination of the both. Today I decided to do my makeup and of course, chose a Gothic look. I don't know, I just think I wear them so well!

I started with my Lancome foundation, then applied my Maybeline Rock Nudes palette to my eyes. I used the silver and the glittery black colors from it. I absolutely love how pigmented that palette is! I followed by my Charcoal Revlon Color Stay eyeliner. For my lips I used Maybeline's Pitch Black lipstick. took a few layers to get the pigment I wanted therefor unfortunately getting excess lipstick on my teeth. I didn't use my blush today because I wanted minimal color to my face. Wanted to keep it fair with blackish color accents.

I haven't gotten dressed yet but you could probably guess what's on my wardrobe list today. If you guessed black, you are correct! I plan on wearing my cold shoulder short sleeved black top and my shiney pleather leggings. I always look good in that outfit.

The thing that sucks is i'm a glasses wearer. It takes away from my makeup look I think and I don't have the money for contacts as well as no clue how to comfortably apply them anyway. It's a real pain in the ass if you ask me. The nice thing are that my glasses are black with purple black swirled sides and silver corners.

I just realized it's labor day and maybe a Gothic look isn't too appropriate for the day. Makeup and outfit plan subject to change as today drags forward.

Nail Polish Boredom

So yesterday I was pretty bored with really nothing to do. I decided to watch movies and paint my nails. I was watching a Disney movie at the time and decided to Disney theme for my fingers. Can you guess what it was? If you guessed Sulley from Monsters Inc. you would be right! I always loved Sulley to the point that's my given nickname. I butchered them a little since i'm nowhere near a nail specialist. It was worse before I redid a couple of them.

The nail polish I used was Wet N' Wild. I love their polish because it dries quickly and stays on very well. It also comes off relatively easy with nail polish remover. It lasts about a week with no chipping no matter how I use my hands. On weekends I find myself very productive so I need a polish that will stick so this is my go-to. Despite the lack of professional touches, I was rather happy with the outcome. I think they're rather cute in my opinion anyway.

When I want to be productive but can't find anything to do, I resort to painting my nails. I luckily just bought nail polish remover so my nails appearance changes rather frequently. I can honestly say though, experimenting with your nail polishes is rather fun. You can come up with all sorts of designs. For this I alternated between a blueish and light purple color followed by opposite color dots as shown in the picture above.

I find that nail polish can greatly express your current mood. I have a ton of colors from black to blue, teal, purples, even pinks as surprising as that may sound for someone like myself.

It's very fun to paint other people's nails too. It's a bit of a bonding experience and I will admit I occasionally share that bonding with my 5 year old son. He loves getting his nails painted and will sometimes paint mine. He always seems to go for the pink and I don't say he can't have pink nails. I've never been the gender specific type. I just make sure his fingers aren't painted when he's at school but since toes are usually covered by socks, It's a free for all with me.
